From the Rat Pack to Carol Burnett and beyond, musical variety shows have delighted audiences for decades. Who better to conjure up a variety show this Halloween than The Drunken Tenor?

 

If Jack Black and Pavarotti gave birth to an adorable man-child, you would get Grammy award-winning Metropolitan Opera tenor Robert McPherson in The Drunken Tenor’s Operapalooza Spectacular Shindig. Joining him for high art and hijinks in the world premiere of Shindig is a cast of some of Tacoma Opera’s most-recognized singers.

 

This October, get ready for standup and sketch comedy shaken with beloved operatic favorites for an evening only The Drunken Tenor could serve. The Drunken Tenor’s Operapalooza Spectacular Shindig at Tacoma Opera is a comic cocktail you won’t want to miss!

Tacoma Opera is proud to join forces with the incomparable Tacoma City Ballet in this thrilling adaptation of Carl Orff’s masterwork, Carmina Burana.  Boasting a full and robust orchestra, amazing choruses, incredible dancers, and Tacoma Opera’s outstanding soloists, this powerful production is not to be missed.

Tacoma Method, a bold new work by American composer Gregory Youtz and Chinese American Poet Zhang Er, detailing the true story of the 1885 violent expulsion of Chinese Americans from the city of Tacoma. Tacoma's mayor and prominent citizens decided they had a “Chinese Problem.” On November 3, 1885, they chose to forcibly expel their Chinese community at gunpoint, terming that action the “Tacoma Method” of creating a white city in what was then Washington Territory. This critical and groundbreaking opera boasts an all-star international cast.
